I would say that I am one of those people who is better for others when I have a bit to personal time to decompress and just be. This evening, I carved out some time for that purpose. The fall bowling season has started again, and D is bowling in the Tuesday night league (in addition to a Sunday league that we bowl in together). This means that each Tuesday, I have a few hours "to myself". This is probably the fourth or fifth week of bowling, but it's the first time that I allowed the time to be just for me - not trying to do a bit of laundry, or dishes, or something for the house. And it felt great!
I kicked up my feet when I got home, and finished reading the novel I'd started a few days ago. I took a long lazy shower, I got on line and wrote a blog post.
He's on his way home now. I am feeling a bit more relaxed, and I can't wait to have a few minutes with my hubby before bedtime. That's him now.

Just came by from Chatting at the Sky (a few days late, I know). I love this, and I can relate! It's so hard not to think of alone time as time to get things done instead of time to tend my soul...and hard to find a balance between the two! Also, can I just say...I love Jhumpa Lahiri. Is that the novel you've been reading? I'm going to poke around your blog some more - I hope you don't mind. :)
